Biography
Elia Rediger (born 1985 in Kinshasa, DR Congo) is a Swiss artist, director, composer, and performer whose work spans music-theatre and multimedia performance. Raised in Basel after returning from Africa, he emerged as frontman for the pop band The bianca Story before expanding into operatic, film and theatrical realms. His pieces explore fragmentation, historical storytelling, utopia and the meeting of popular and high art — from LSD-oratorios to mining-oratorios in the Congo. In the context of his latest venture, Caravan of LUV, Rediger invites musicians to live communally, compose love-songs and ritualise performance as a counter-response to our dystopian times. He is Co-Founder of int int irrit & GROUP50:50.

His recent works include Caravan of LUV (Vienna Festival 2025 & int int irrit), a touring music-ritual that reimagines Woodstock. REQUIEM für ALICE (Podium Festival Esslingen). With Milo Rau he collaborated in Burtheater & Medea’s Children, Das Neue Evangelium and Antigone in the Amazon. With Group50:50, Rediger co-created ECOSYSTEM and The Ghosts Are Returning, musical investigations into postcolonial memory and ecological grief. Hercule de Lubumbashi (Elia Rediger & Dorine Mokha) was created as a mining oratorio. At the Deutsche Oper Berlin, he directed MACHT DER KÜNSTE and as founder of Brigade Futur 3, Rediger continues to build utopian alliances between sound, theatre, and social imagination. Futur works are OH FAITH (2026) – an agnostic touring church, and OH HEALTH (2027) – a touring Opera Rave. WAX THE RICH – postcolonial Fashion Collection (2026) and « Village People – Katanga -Lausitz » as an upcoming movie project (2028)

Concept of the Performance:
Has the time come for Woodstock 3.0? In turbulent times, director, singer and pop artist Elia Rediger asks how music can still answer the world with the ritual of love. Starting from the fact that over 110 million love songs already exist—and thousands more appear every day—he brings together a collective of worldclass musicians living and creating together as a modern commune in a caravan. Their songs, written between affection and resistance, form the core of Caravan of LUV: a band, a ritual, a healing movement. Following their celebrated debut at the Vienna Festival | Free Republic of Vienna, the project now takes to the road on a HEALING-Tour-de-Cœur, beginning in Prague, Leipzig, Brussels, Manchester, and Naples. Each stop transforms into a night of Rock ’n’ Roll catharsis—part concert, part ceremony and ritual—reviving the dream of a new wave of solidarity of the futur.
Artistic Statement :
I never imagined that this touring idea would evolve into such a fruitful and pioneering project. We fill opera houses, we play the Wave of Love in front of 40,000 people — it is, of course, an experiment, and as such, a traveling piece that reflects on the condition of being a stranger on the road. A caravan arrives in a city and leaves again, and in between, they play music and perform rituals freely inspired by my friend Alejandro Jodorowsky. I look forward to every city, every bunker, every monastery courtyard — each place becomes part of this moving ceremony of connection and transformation. It is a radical idea dressed in the most beautiful costume.
