Biography

Miguel Fragata, born in Porto in 1983, is a Portuguese actor, director, and playwright. He graduated in Theatre from the Escola Superior de Música e das Artes do Espetáculo and the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema. In 2014, he co-founded Formiga Atómica with Inês Barahona, a Lisbon-based theatre company known for its contemporary and socially relevant productions.

Fragata’s works often address pressing societal issues and are characterized by a strong commitment to research and audience engagement. Notable productions include A Caminhada dos Elefantes, The Wall, Do Bosque para o Mundo (whose French version opened the 72nd Festival d’Avignon), Montanha-Russa, Fake, and O Estado do Mundo (Quando Acordas). His productions have been presented in various countries, including Portugal, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Spain, Germany, and Brazil.

In addition to his theatrical work, Fragata co-authored the book Ciclone – Diário de Uma Montanha-Russa, based on the show Montanha-Russa, which won the 2020 SPA Authors Award.
