Biography

Aurora Bauzà & Pere Jou began their artistic collaboration in 2019, developing a singular trajectory focused on researching the voice as stage, musical and choreographic material. By resisting disciplinary classifications, their work create performative situations that alter our conventional perception of space and time, inviting audiences to temporarily inhabit liminal spaces. Rather than constructing meaning through narrative, Bauzà & Jou seek to create conditions in which meaning emerges through perception itself, turning the perceptual experience into a form of dramaturgy.
They have presented several stage works including a performance specifically conceived for young children, as well as a performative installation that expands their artistic research beyond conventional theatrical formats. Their latest creation, LOBO, continues their research into polyphony, perception and collective presence, drawing on Renaissance music to explore new relationships between bodies, voices and light. Their artistic trajectory is also closely connected to an ongoing collaboration with Alessandro Sciarroni, with whom their share a common passion for human nature.

A Beginning

A BEGINNING #16161D arises from the need to imagine a possible future at a time dominated by narratives of collapse. The piece proposes the beginning of a new reality, where the boundaries between individual and collective identities become unstable, and new forms of communication and coexistence can emerge.
Five singers inhabit a constantly transforming space in which voice, movement and light operate as a single dramaturgical language. Beginning in complete darkness, the performance gradually constructs a new visual and sonic world. Live singing, electronic composition and movement interact with a lighting system manipulated by the performers themselves, making music visible and transforming the perception of bodies and space.
A BEGINNING #16161D is an invitation to imagine a world from its very first gestures: a space where other ways of being together might still be possible.
